Jason is a Woodworker, Artisan, Luthier (Guitar Maker), Artist, Tradesman, and
Inventor from Gippsland Victoria Australia where his business Woodforge19 was developed.
Jason’s carpentry and woodworking skills have developed over the past 35 years, and includes his background as a luthier having been trained in
America to make guitars.
He is also able to repair and restore guitars for clients. This combination of skills over the decades has not only increased Jason’s artisan
passion for woodworking but sees him using a combination of traditional,
contemporary and modern techniques and tools to obtain this precision in every handcrafted piece he designs and builds.
Using aged, vintage, Australian timbers plus reclaimed and recycled woods complete with their blemishes from nail holes to natural knots or grain
changes and color give each piece of furniture a character “all of its own”,
plus adds to the natural warmth and rustic appeal of each piece.
The Australian, aged, vintage timbers used predominantly include:
Victorian Mountain Ash, Tasmanian Oak, Douglas Fir, Red Gum, Stringy Bark, Iron Wood and White Pine.
Some of these timbers are from trees hundreds or thousands of years old,
and the reclaimed or recycled timbers include some European pieces.
Sustainability has always been a priority for Jason when sourcing these reclaimed
and recycled timbers, plus in his choice of natural oils, waxes and water-based
lacquers used to finish off each piece.
Sustainability and responsibly made furniture have always been a personal favourite for Jason, with him building much of his household furniture
decades ago as well .He therefore prides himself on listening to his clients to ensure he understands their narrative, to design and build them the perfect piece to fulfill their dreams and desires as well as meet their requirements.
